CDFC was organized to bring awareness about youth substance misuse and overdose prevention into our community and surrounding communities. Our donors, partners and sponsors support assist CDFC to accomplish the following:
- Family – CDFC works with Drug Free Marion County to implement Family Strengthening programs.
- School – CDFC was an integral partner in getting the Fairbanks Prevention Matters curriculum in BGCS: Botvin Life Skills (4th-8th grades) and Too Good for Drugs and Violence (9th grade). As a partner, CDFC is diligently working to raise funds that will offset the cost of the workbooks for students and teachers. CDFC also disseminates prevention awareness materials at back to school nights for local schools and Boys & Girls Clubs.
- Community – CDFC brings awareness about youth substance prevention through their program “Youth Substance Misuse & Overdose Prevention” offered quarterly to educate parents/caring adults about risk and protective factors for substance misuse prevention. CDFC also brings awareness about prevention through highlighting SAMHSA’s National Prevention Week (NPW) in May, and SAMHSA’s National Recovery Month (NRM) in September during the Beech Grove Fall Festival.
